The application of mould is very wide, and most of the components manufacturing need to be molded. The service life of the mould depends on its ability to resist wear and mechanical damage. Once excessively worn or mechanically damaged, it is difficult to repair the damaged parts of the shape, the only way is to purchase or customize a new mould. The mould manufacturing process is complex, with a the production cycle, and high processing cost. Therefore, repairing and reusing failed mould will undoubtedly have significant economic benefits. There are many ways to repair molds, such as electric spark, argon arc welding repair, laser welding, brush plating, etc. Laser cladding technology has unique advantages for mould repair. The powder material is flexible and adjustable to meet the needs of different service performances. It can form different types of wear-resistant, high-temperature resistant, and erosion-resistant coatings, even gradient coatings, and coatings. The materials can be cobalt-based, nickel-based and ceramic composite materials. Compared with traditional arc repair welding technology, laser cladding has less heat input, less heat impact on the substrate, and less residual stress in the repair area; also, it has high precision so as to achieve precise repair of small defects in high-end mould.
Laser cladding solutions:
It can be used for the efficient forming of wear-resistant and high-temperature-resistant coatings on the surface of axial symmetry parts of different sizes; due to low heat input, small deformation and high precision, it has unique advantages in surface cladding of thin-walled and small-size parts.
It is used for the forming of wear-resistant, high-temperature-resistant and erosion-resistant coatings on the inner surface of injection molds, as well as the rapid repair of local defects on the inner surface of the mould, as well as the laser cladding repair of narrow and restricted locations.
It is used for precision repair and cladding of local damaged areas and knife edge edges of automobile mould and stamping dies.
It is used to harden the knife edge of the mould to improve the service life.
• Ultra-high-speed laser cladding of glass mold punch
The glass mould punch is an indispensable component for the production of glass containers using the small-mouth blowing method. Since the glass frit is very sensitive to the shape of the punch, even a small dimensional deviation will affect the moulding effect of the glass container. Therefore, the punch is usually required to have good thermal stability and wear resistance to avoid deformation and prolong the service life. Through the two-step process of surface cleaning and laser cladding, the thickness of the cladding layer on the surface of the repaired glass mould punch can reach 0.05-1mm, and the hardness can reach above HRC65, which effectively improves the quality of the glass mould.
• Laser cladding repair of automobile mould
Automobile mould is a basic yet important equipment in the production process of automobile parts. Due to the harsh production environment of automobile components, it is easy to cause automobile mould to deform and break. The automobile mould repaired by laser cladding has a small deformation, the hardness can reach HRC50 or more, and it is not easy to crack, which can ensure the dimensional accuracy of the mold and prolong the service life of the mould.
